READING, Pa - The Montgomery County chapter of Democracy for America has notified it's national leadership that they have endorsed Manan Trivedi in the race for Pennsylvania's sixth congressional district.

"We are very excited, not only about Dr. Trivedi as a primary candidate, but we are especially heartened by his prospects running against the Republican incumbent Jim Gerlach in the general," said local chairperson Mary Clark. "We need pragmatic progressives like Dr. Trivedi in the U.S. House."

Democracy for America is a national grassroots organization that was created by Governor Howard Dean following his presidential run of 2004. The group has a network of over 600,000 activists who have played a pivotal role in helping candidates across the country win elections through their online organizing and fundraising.

"Governor Dean began a movement of change in Democracy for America and I am proud to join forces with their members to change the future of this district," said Manan Trivedi. "As a fellow physician like Gov. Dean, I know the importance of listening to people's problems first and then applying evidence based solutions. I look forward to continuing that practice in Congress so we can achieve true health care reform for everyone," Trivedi concluded.
