Energizing Job Growth

The number one priority for anyone who wants to represent Pennsylvania’s 6th District must be to fight for the creation of new jobs and to protect existing jobs.  We should work to create an environment that supports businesses in our district, and allows them to succeed and grow.  We must restore economic opportunities for new generations of Americans and ensure that the American Dream is still available to anyone willing to work hard.

Here’s how we can get there:

•    Cut taxes and provide incentives to create and expand small businesses

•    Invest in clean energy manufacturing that creates good-paying jobs and moves us closer to energy independence

•    Strengthen our public infrastructure to create jobs and prepare businesses for success

•    Crack down on employers who break the law by hiring illegal immigrants

•    End tax credits for companies that ship jobs overseas

Small business – big opportunities
Small businesses are the backbone of the economy in the 6th district, and small businesses of today become the big businesses of tomorrow.  We need to foster American ingenuity by supporting small businesses with good ideas through tax incentives that drive job-creation.

Infrastructure investments that energize growth
Investing in schools, hospitals, roads, and technology not only creates good-paying jobs today, but also builds a solid foundation for future economic growth.  By strengthening our infrastructure we can make sure our businesses have the resources to compete in the global marketplace.

Get tough with companies that break the rules
Employers that hire illegal workers contribute to the crisis of illegal immigration and have an unfair advantage over businesses that obey the law.  We need to level the playing field by ensuring that businesses hiring illegal immigrants are held accountable. 

End incentives for companies that leave American workers behind
If a company decides to ship jobs to a foreign country, the last thing we should do is reward them with tax breaks.  I will fight to end the practice of giving tax incentives to businesses that give up on American workers.

Clean energy - let’s start with schools Investing in wind, solar, geothermal and other clean energy technology not only will create new jobs now and in the future, but will also move us closer to energy independence.  That investment can start today by retrofitting local schools to become more energy efficient. Through the retrofitting process we can:

•    Help train vocational and apprenticeship students in valuable job skills of the future

•    Engage science classes in the study of new retro-fitting technology

•    Tap efficiency savings to strengthen school budgets
