A little more than four months after entering the race for Pennsylvania's 6th congressional district, Democrat Manan Trivedi became the first candidate to reach and pass the milestone of receiving 100 endorsements. These endorsements represent every level of community and political leadership, and show Trivedi's broad appeal throughout the district. In releasing the names of thirty-three more supporters today, Trivedi's campaign now holds almost three times as many endorsements from individuals than both of his primary opponents combined.
"Over the years I have gotten to know the people of this region and I understand their needs. So when I was deciding who I was going to support as my next congressman, it was important for that person to be from my district and have that shared understanding of our people. It's clear. That person is Manan Trivedi," said Sen. O'Pake.
"I am truly honored by this recent show of support for our campaign. I appreciate that when leaders in the community have given me a chance to present my life's story, to explain to them how we can create jobs and reform our health care system, they make the decision to join our cause," said Trivedi.
"This is all about changing the way we do things in Washington. Just throwing money and grand ideas at a problem doesn't fix anything and it usually ends up causing more problems in the end," said Trivedi. "We have to be smarter about how we do the people's business and spend the people's money. And when it is all said and done, we have to be accountable to the people by making sure we accomplish our goals. It is time to get Pennsylvanians back to work and that is exactly what I will do in Congress," Trivedi said.
"It's been thirty-seven years since Roe v. Wade was decided, but in the halls of Congress, those who oppose reproductive freedom want to chip away at abortion rights. We must not allow complacency and compromise to destroy the rights of women to make their own medical decisions. As a member of Congress, I will always stand with NARAL Pro-Choice America and Planned Parenthood and fight to protect reproductive choices for all American women."
